I had big doubts along the way whether I’m doing the right thing – being on bicycle. Never the less, after about three days I started to like it and so I went on.

After the days on the ferries I was really eager to finally start my Alaska-Bicycling-Adventure. The way lead me from South East Alaska back to Canada and then finally back to Alaska.

After 9 days cycling from Haines to Fairbanks and two day rest in Fairbanks, I went off again, this time to Prudhoe Bay. It was a bit earlier then I thought I would head up there but I had the chance to have a lift to up there.

In the beginning I actually planed to stay in the Denali NP for about a week and do some Backcountry Trekking but ended up just to stay for some days. At the last day at Wonderlake I was lucky. The clouds went away and we could see Mt. McKinley.

On my side trip to McCarthy I run into Jules and we ended up doing a Flight-Trek together. The 20 minutes flight was very scenic and it was really need to see Alaska for once not from the saddle but from the air.

After Jules and Chris gave me a ride back to the may road, I had two more days to cycle before I reached Valdez. First I thought I would stay for a few days in this costal town but it was just raining as I arrived there.

After the rainy days in Seward the weather got good again and I started to cycle. Surprisingly the weather was great and could enjoy the Indian Summer – the red-yellow coloring of the trees and bushes.

It was not that cold though, but somehow I just did not feel like sleeping every night with the water bottle in the sleeping bag to prevent the water of freezing. It was somehow also the end of my Alaska-Bicycling-Adventure and so I gladly accepted Marie’s offer to give me a ride down the Whitehorse.
